No trip to Ullswater in The Lake District, England would be complete without a hike up Helvellyn. As always, I was in search of some good cloud action, which is often the focal point of my fine art landscape photography. I was surprised to see snow on the top of Helvellyn in May, and even more amused when it was actually snowing when I got up to Swirrel Edge. I adore the natural colours of the landscape in The Yorkshire Dales and The Lake District, especially in springtime and over a couple of days enjoyed the breathtaking scenery as I hiked up Helvellyn via two different routes. Unfortunately the weather was extremely unpredictable and the conditions quite dangerous up on the top of Helvellyn, so I didn't get up to the summit there this time around. I have been up there in the past and the view from the top on a clear day is mindblowing. I'll be back up there over summer to climb again and hopefully grab some shots from the top!
